The World Policy Conference is an annual international event hosted by the Institut français des relations internationales (IFRI). Chey Institute for Advanced Studies collaborated with IFRI from 2015 to 2017 to organize a special panel on China called “China Workshop” within the larger conference. The workshop closely observed and analyzed the 19th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party and invited experts from Korea, China, Japan, and Europe gathered to discuss changes to US-China relations and regional security.
On November 4, 2017, Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies hosted a special workshop on China, titled "China with New Challenges," at the World Policy Conference, an independent organization that aims to promote a world that is more open, prosperous, fairer, and more respectful of diversity through improved governance launched by IFRI, one of the most influential think tanks based in France.
During the workshop, panelists assessed the outcomes of the 19th Party Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, focusing on the power structure of China's top leadership during President Xi's second term, as well as military and security implications. On top of that, the future trajectory of China-US relations in light of bilateral trade and North Korean nuclear issues was discussed.
