한국고등교육재단은 캄보디아왕립한림원과 공동으로 제1회 동남아문화가치포럼을 개최하였다(2005.10.12-13). “보존(Preservation)과 인식의 제고(Promotion)”을 주제로 열린 첫 회 동남아문화가치포럼에는 캄보디아 내외에서 100여명의 학자들이 참석하였으며, Sum Manith 캄보디아 관장부차관이 참석하여 연설하기도 했다. 폐막일에 세션 요약을 맡은 Sum Chhumbun 캄보디아 왕립한림원 ARC 소장은 한 국가의 문화유산에 대한 연구, 관리, 보존이 곧 그 국가의 정신(‘spirit’)을 지키는 일이라고 말하며, 본 회의를 향후에도 지속적으로 발전시켜나갈 것을 제안했다.
