Shanghai Forum, co-hosted with Fudan University since 2005, is an annual academic forum under the overarching theme of “Economic Globalization and the Choice of Asia.” Shanghai Forum focuses on issues in economy, finance, trade, and environment in Northeast Asia, and has become one of the leading academic platforms in the region. It enjoys an ever-increasing turnout of renowned scholars, policymakers, and business leaders. Participants from previous years include Mayor Han Zheng of Shanghai, former U.S. Deputy Secretary James Steinber, IMF Deputy Managing Director Zhu Min, and Nobel laureates such as A. Michael Spence and James A. Mirrlees. The forum recognizes the pivotal role of Asia in the global economy and aims to shed light on emerging issues in order to promote both cooperation and shared prosperity.

Asia Amidst Global Reshuffling: Challenges, Developments, and New Paradigms
The 14th Shanghai Forum was held from March 25th to 27th under the theme, “New Tech: Innovation and Social Development, New Order: Global Uncertainty and the World Restructuring, New Height: Shanghai towards an Excellent Global City, New Era: China in A New Round of Reform and Opening-up.” Over 700 guests universities, governments, corporates and other institutions attended the Forum. Comprehensive discussions were held under 4 panels and 21 sub-panels. Keynote speeches were delivered by Susan Shirk, research professor and Chair of the 21st Century China Center of UCSD, Wu Xinbo, Dean of Institute of International Studies, and Director of Center for American Studies and Vice Dean of Fudan Development Institute of Fudan University, Michael Spence, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sydney, Paulo Portas, former Deputy Prime Minister of Portugal, and Zhu Wei, senior managing director and Chairman of Accenture Greater China.
