Biden's Afghanistan Pullout: Implications for Asia

September 10(Fri.), 2021 /

The
recent withdrawal of U.S. troops in Afghanistan is leading to greater turmoil
in the Middle East and, more likely, the world. Taliban forces are quickly
filling up the political vacuum in Afghanistan, while China and Russia appear
to be rewriting their strategic formula for the region. With little surprise,
the crisis in Afghanistan has sparked a chain of suspicion on America
’s commitment to its allies and friends in Asia.

Against
this backdrop, the Chey Institute for Advanced Studies prepared this timely
webinar inviting leading experts and former high-ranking officials from the United
States and the Republic of Korea. This webinar aims to review recent events in
Afghanistan and address its implications for international relations, including
the global strategy of the United States and China.
